In the year 1946, a dedicated group of philanthropists and freedom fighters established the National Education Society ® (N.E.S.). It was the collective vision of these individuals that transformed the quality of education in the region. Today, the NES is known as a formidable achiever in the field of education, managing 39 educational institutions in various fields – Engineering, Pharmacy, Arts, Commerce, Education, Law, Applied Sciences, Management, and etc. In the year 1980, JNNCE was established by National Education Society ®. The college has more than three decades of fruitful existence. The College is approved by Government of Karnataka and AICTE; affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgavi. A preferred destination of students seeking technical education, the institution offers BE degree in 7 branches namely Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg., Electrical & Electronics Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Computer Science &Engg., Information Science & Engg., Telecommunication Engg., 3 PG Courses, namely M. Tech in Computer Science &Engg., Network & Internet Engg., Machine Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, Transportation Engg. & Management, Digital Electronics & Communication Systems, Power Electronics,MCA and MBA, besides M.Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D. in seven disciplines. Spread over a sprawling campus of 39.4 acres having all amenities to cater to the needs of about 3000 students and 400 staff members, the institution is reputed for its high-caliber faculty, excellent infrastructure, academic environment and placement. Around 10000 graduates and post-graduates have so far passed out from this College and have been making significant contributions in academic institutions, industry R & D organizations and Government Departments in India and abroad. The institution has, in the recent past, organized several conferences. JNNCE is ranked 26th among top 165 private colleges in India.
The department of Civil Engineering is established in the year 1980 with 40 intake and increased to 120 in the year 2011. The department is catering M.Tech. Programme in Transportation Engineering and Management since 2010. The department is recognized as a research center by Visvesvaraya Technological University. The department is processing eminent faculties from various specialization of Civil Engineering domain.The department comprises well established laboratories to carry out research and consultancy works. The government and private organizations are benefited through effective consultancy by the department throughout the year. The department is having industry institute collaboration in the form of MoU with GARDENIA GROUP, NEWTECH GROUP, AAROHAN BUILDERS and GLOBAL INFOTECH to benefit student community, research establishments and the society.

I am immensely happy that Department of Civil Engineering of our college is organizing Two day International conference on Emerging and Sustainable Trends in Civil Engineering – ESCE 2018) on 27thand 28th of September 2018. The conference aims to bring intellectuals in Civil Engg and allied area under one platform and provide opportunities to exchange ideas, to establish research relations. The themes for this conference are indicative of relevant research areas to give the prospective authors innovative prepositions about the ambit of discussion. All papers will be published in full in UGC approved Journal and selected papers in Scopus Indexed Journal.
We are living in a time where boundaries of knowledge are being advanced at a rapid pace, the conference will help to chart new stream of research for sure. I encourage all participants to present their knowledge to strengthen India a developed and prosperous Nation. The dedicated HOD, Faculty & Staff and enthusiastic students of Department of Civil Engg., JNNCE are working to make this conference different in terms of activities during the conference. Conference are providing opportunities for researchers and faculty members and students for networking and collaboration among the peer groups along with the publications in peer reviewed journals/proceedings.

The objective of conference is to bring together innovative academicians and research experts in the field of recent advancement in of Civil Engineering. The active participation of learned speakers and delegates and the intensive deliberations expected to take place at this programme and are bound to inspire the teaching and student fraternity to undertake meaningful and valueadding research in the proposed domains. It is very heartening to note that the Departments of Civil Engineeringof JNNCE organized two day International Conference on “EMERGING AND SUSTAINABLE TRENDS IN CIVIL ENGINEERING(ESCE-2018)” on 27-28 September, 2018. The primary goal of the conference is to promote research and development activities in field of Civil Engineering. The conference seeks to provide a platform to all researchers to interact and share their current and planned research works with the co‐researchers from all over the world, besides showcasing the current developments and future prospects in these exciting technological fields. It thus aims to contribute a lot to the creation of intellectual capital and knowledge‐sharing. The Management of National Education Society has always been encouraging and promoting high caliber research and extension activities by the faculty in its professional institutions and the proposed event is one more testimony to this ideal of NES Management.
